The Hocking Hills Region is located in Southeastern Ohio and is known for its rugged wilderness, many hiking trails, and its cabin stays. Hocking Hills State Park is one of the parks in the region near Eagle's Nest Cabin. It closes at dusk, and is open 365 days of the year. Hiking trail areas include Ash Cave, Old Man's Cave, and Cedar Falls. Programs and events are provided by staff and volunteers at the park, and there are a couple of special events including a spring wildlflower hike and Winter Hike in January.
Ash Cave is located near South Bloomingville in the Hocking Hills Region of Ohio and only a short drive from Eagle's Nest Cabin. It is the closest region of the park from the cabin and is accessible all year around from dawn to dusk. This recess cave received its name from charred ashes found beneath the overhang from hundreds of years of use as a temporary shelter by Native Americans and settlers.

Old Man's Cave is located near South Bloomingville in the Hocking Hills Region of Ohio. Thousands of years of water flowing through the valley have cut away the Blackhand Sandstone and created this recess cave and its waterfalls and rugged cliff faces. Old Man's Cave is a must-see when adventuring in the Hocking Hills.
